January 27, 2009

Today was a big day! Zoe stood on her own at a musical activity table she likes to play with. She also figured out how to open a little green drawer in the table.

For the last couple of days, Zoe has been trying to pull herself up in her crib. Today she did it!

It's amazing how quickly she's growing up.

January 24th 2008

Zoe had a cold this week but she's doing better today. She refuses to nap in the morning at the daycare for some unknown reason... She sleeps well in the afternoon so we're not too worried about it.

The tooth is slowly coming out. Fortunately, she's not too bothered with it.

The weather has been very nice so we've been walking with her and Puzzle a lot.

Zoe is starting to pull herself up in the crib and can stand for a minute or so when holding to the railing.

January 18th 2009

Today, Zoe is 8 months old. Yeahhhhh!!!!

Her teeth are coming out, or at least one tooth is appearing on the lower left side of her mouth. We could feel something hard and sharp when we passed a finger on her gum, yesterday. She is not fussing too much about it, but she certainly doesn't sleep as well as she used too.

She is also learning to master the sippy cup. She is much better at getting a drink when she is lying on her back.

Today was very sunny, and poor Zoe didn't like it. This was way to hard on her darkness-trained eyes. Oh, well, the sun won't last.

January 14th 2009

Today, Zoe reached a new milestone. She sat up to play with her toy. She also stood for several seconds, holding herself to the edge of a piece of furniture. (Her mother was closely behind, ready to catch her if she fell).
She has been sleeping better in the last few days. Hopefully, this pattern lasts.
We continue our exploration of new flavors: this week Zoe tried zucchinis (didn't like them so much). Bananas remain her all-time favorites. Green beans are the worst.

Happy New Year!

Over the Holidays, Zoe discovered the joy of crawling. She zooms toward anything interesting: Puzzle water bowl, Puzzle, anything electrical...

The worried parents keep a vigilent eye on their mobile daughter.

Merry Christmas!

It snowed heavily for the two weeks before Christmas.

Fabrice's sister and her family arrived on the 20th. Zoe met her aunt Emmanuelle, uncle Thierry and her cousins Marianne and Mathilde for the first time.

With most of the city snowed in, we are having difficulties driving around, but we still manage to have fun.
We made a snowman, went to the Seattle aquarium and Pike Place market.

The three cousins seem to like each other a lot.

Face Off!

Zoe trying to get to Puzzle.

Puzzle waited for a while and then retreated...
Poor Puzzle. Her peaceful days are over! On the other hand, since Zoe is now eating solid food, Puzzle waits quietly under the high chair for falling scraps. It is some sort of compensation.

Sitting on her own!

This is it.
Zoe sat and played with toys for really long time in the class (like 15 min or longer stretches).

Preparing for Halloween

This year, Zoe dressed up as Yoda.

Adventures in nursing Zoe
“I can touch my foot! How cool is that!?
Look how long I can be when I stretch!
Did you see that kick!?
Oh, here's mom! I'll smile to her.
Wow, I can make noise! Did you hear that!?
I can hold my knee! Cool!
Did you see me roll?!
Let's see, can I nurse and chew on my pajama at the same time? (no) I can hold my head way up! See!? (ouch) My hand is just fascinating. I could look at it forever. What was I doing?
Wow, did you see that light?!
Should I practice sitting up now?
Look, it's Puzzle!
What was that noise? Let's look!
I wonder if I can grab mommy's nose?(yes) What was I doing again?”

"Lying on my back is boring... I wonder what happens if I kick my leg real hard"

Zoe rolls over from back to front.

Ten days later, she also rolls in her bed. That's it! No more swaddling.
The same day, she moves to her own room for naps and at night.

August 22nd 2008

Zoe is holding her head up, without any help. She is doing in on her own.

She also decided to discover items by tasting them... hmmmm, so good!

July 31st 2008

First ferry trip! We took the ferry from Edmonds to Kingston, and then continued toward Port Townsend. Puzzle enjoyed the beach, but Zoe didn't like the wind.
Zoe fell asleep in her stroller while we were having lunch.
A couple of weeks ago, Zoe had her 2-month visit at the doctor. All is good.
In other news, we started reading her stories. She liked the Very Hungry Caterpillar a lot, mostly for the pictures.

June 20th 2008

Baby Zoe gave us a 6 hours long night as a Father's Day Gift. A record. Of course, last night she was back to her normal routine, waking up every two hours.
Last week we tried the Baby Bjorn carrier. She likes it. We went to Marymoor park, with Andy and Liz and Puzzle and her Frisbee. Puzzle loved being out and Zoe did well.

This is a small picture I took with my phone. We were grocery shopping and she simply fall asleep quietly.

She was just one month old, two days ago.

June 5th 2008

Zoe has her days when she doesn't want to sleep at all and some when she takes long naps. We're both quite tired especially that Fabrice had to start working from home (they have a deadline).

Nights are also hit and miss but the last two she did have stretches of longer naps (in her case it means 2-3 hours).

Puzzle is still not sure what to do with this new pup. Yesterday she tentatively pointed her nose in direction of Zoe’s face, who unfortunately sneezed. Disgusted, Puzzle retreated. The taming of the new beast will have to come later.

Mother and dog sleep now in the same bed, with the baby next to them.

May 24th 2008

Time to go out and see the world.

This is our walk around Green Lake with Zoe. She seems to enjoy the carrycot, the fresh air and the sun.

Agnieszka is feeling much better too.

May 20th 2008

We just came back home from the hospital. Swedish was nice, but mother and daughter were ready to leave.

“Auntie” Trisha stopped by to see Zoe. She was dog sitting Puzzle while we were away. Puzzle just met the baby. She is not quite sure what to do with this new life form.

When Zoe cries, Puzzle leaves the room with a look on her face implying “She’s yours. You brought her. You take care of her. I’m out of here.”

May 18th 2008

Zoe Lily Miguel was born on Sunday the 18th of May, at 11:35 PM.
She weighted seven pounds and one ounce and measured 20 inches long.
Mother and daughter are doing well.
Father and dog still wonder what happened.
